Why Choose West Tisbury?

West Tisbury is one of the oldest English settlements on the island. While originally part of Vineyard Haven, West Tisbury became its own entity in 1892, and has a rich agricultural history,  which remains to this day. Its rural charm distinguishes it from more populous “down-island” locations and provides for a quieter, back-to-nature backdrop for a summer rental or year round home.

It should come as no surprise then that the popular West Tisbury Farmers Market is one of the longest running farmers markets on Martha’s Vineyard, offering visitors and locals alike a wide range of locally grown produce, flowers,  fresh baked goods, handmade jams and jellies and crafts, dairy and meat products. Additionally, the West Tisbury Farmers Market offers live entertainment from local musicians, and demonstrations of rural pastimes.

The farmers market embraces the culture of community that makes West Tisbury special where farmers and artisans alike are willing to share their craft and the heritage they help sustain.

While you are likely to find goods that include fresh cranberries at the farmers market, enhancing the experience with a visit to a local cranberry bog is a must. An important part of West Tisbury and the island's history, cranberries have been grown in the area since the 19th century.

Of course, no West Tisbury rental vacation would be complete without enjoying many of the beautiful hiking trails the area has to offer, including the Manuel F Correllus State Forest and hundreds of miles of conservation land offered by the Martha's Vineyard Land Bank and Sheriffs Meadow.

This 5,300-acre expanse of th State Forest features a plethora of hiking trails that wind through deciduous and conifer forests and ponds, inhabited by a variety of local wildlife. Whether you want to explore by foot, bike or horseback, the natural beauty of this gem provides days of exploration and photo opportunities.

If all this activity has you ready for a lazy day in the sun, nearby Lambert's Cove Beach is a popular West Tisbury destination. Relax by planting a chair on the cove's sandy beach, enjoy a refreshing swim, or just take in the warm white sand and calm waters.

Two convenient transportation options are available for those looking to stay in a West Tisbury rental home or purchase a home here. Martha’s Vineyard airport, which is in West Tisbury, and the Martha’s Vineyard Ferry, which arrives and departs from Oak Bluffs & Vineyard Haven, which are a few miles from West Tisbury.  The town is located in the center of the island so its conveniently located to Edgartown and Up island towns of Chilmark and Aquinnah.

Tea Lane Associates year round office is located in the small business district of  West Tisbury.  Its no surprise that we have significant knowledge and experience renting and selling property in this popular island town.
