Christmas In Edgartown is the highlight of the festive season and a great time to visit the island.
This long weekend is usually the second week of December from Thursday to Sunday offering 4 days of family fun! Kicking off the event are sponsors Donaroma's with their light show which runs all weekend and there will be various events happening brought to you by Island retailers, restaurants, schools, non profits and businesses.

The popular Teddy Bear Suite fundraiser at the Harbor View Hotel always brings a smile.
The Preservation Trust host a holiday cocktail party at the Carnegie Museum on December 12th 2025 - as part of their 50th year celebration.
On Friday its the time honored tradition of the lighting of the Edgartown Lighthouse. Countdown begins at 5:30pm and the Marthas Vineyard Boy & Girls Club will be there. Plus sometimes an appearance by the man in red himself!
If you feel like watching from the warmth, then book a table at Bettini restaurant at the Harbor View Hotel and watch from the comfort of your table!

The Marthas Vineyard High School Minnesingers annual concert will be at the Whaling Church on Friday and Saturday.
The Christmas Market is on Saturday at the Edgartown Village Green - all day Saturday til 3pm .. with lots of local vendors.
And the Annual Elves Faire hosted by Plum Hill School, is always a delight for children of all ages at the Federated Church on Saturday with gingerbread houses, crafts and festive fun.
Then on Saturday at 11am is THE PARADE ... where Main Street becomes the main event, rain or shine. The streets are lined with onlookers dressed up for the holidays as floats, animals, music, dancers, the Elf on the Shelf and of course SANTA parade from Pease Point Way to Water Street.

Also during the holiday season our farms and farm stands are busy producing wonderful food and goodies for your holiday entertaining and Morning Glory Farm are holding a Holiday Open house on Saturday December 13th with hayrides, raffle prizes and egg nog to get everyone in the Christmas Spirit.

Also on Saturday 13th the Marthas Vineyard Preservation Trust are hosting Oyster tasting and Wine Paring event at the Norton Boathouse. As everyone knows Oysters are a key part of the Vineyard Holiday menu!

Up island in Chilmark theres a art & artisans sale of "Small Works" by local artists at the Chilmark Library - from Dec 2nd to the 19th... As well as their annual holiday party on December 10th. A great opportunity to get a locally made gift for someone you know who loves the Vineyard!

It was wreath making weekend all over the island last week and at the Marthas Vineyard Garden Club, the Wakemen Center campus became a workshop filled with foraged island greens, berries, bells and bows. The workshop has been lead by Nancy Cabot for many years with instruction from other Garden Club members. Some were there for the first time, some have clearly been doing this a lot longer!
Everyone honed their creative talents and went home with a masterpiece to adorn their front doors.
