HAVE A QUESTION?

Have a Question?

There's lots going on for Memorial Day 2018 as the islands restaurants and hotels have been gradually opening up after this long winter stretch. Check out the local papers and what's happening on MV Facebook page for restaurant openings, many of which have specials at this time of the year, such as dollar oysters at Beach Road!

While most people know the Chilmark Tavern for a wonderful summer dining experience, during the off-season the Tavern is transformed into an arts center that attracts the best of the island’s creative artists from poets, to singers, dancers, artists, knitters, piano players and performers.

At the Vineyard Haven library on Tuesday night, there was a good turn out of people to hear Donald Nelson talk about his book entitled "Chappaquiddick Tragedy, Kennedy's Second Passenger Revealed". The book gives his account and theory behind the controversial tragedy and subsequent cover up involving Senator Ted Kennedy, and the death of one of his campaign aids, Mary Jo Kopechne.

The New Year was off to a cold start when we were hit with the famous “Bomb Cyclone” storm that effected the entire east coast. The island actually got more of a slushy snow mix and then temperatures plumetted and we were hit with a deep freeze that turned us into pretty much one massive ice skating rink!. It effected travel and schools for a day or two but the ice hockey players were happy out on the ponds and it certainly kept the plumbers busy!

The first week of December and the Woods Hole ferry terminal was packed like it was the first week of August!

One of the joys of Martha's Vineyard are its many trails and conservation areas that are protected for public enjoyment and recreation by various organizations.  One such organization is Sheriffs Meadow Foundation, who operate Cedar Tree Neck in West Tisbury.

Winter on the Vineyard can sometimes seem busier than the summer, with lots of community events to keep year round residents and weekend visitors occupied. September sees the island a-buzz with the fishing Derby, October there are Fall Festivals and of course Halloween. For November with the holidays fast approaching (Thanksgiving is next week everyone!), one local happening especially caught Tea Lanes' eyes as its a collaboration between some of our favorite people.

Wednesday night brought the crowds to the MV Performing Arts Center for a one night only performance by talented singer songwriter Aimee Mann. Presented by MVY Radio, and part of the Martha's Vineyard Concert Series, the show was a highly entertaining combination of old songs and new songs, spanning her career which began in the 1980's, as well as couple of collaborations with special guest, Jonathan Coutlon.

Edgartown celebrates Mothers Day and welcomes Spring this weekend with the annual Pink and Green Weekend hosted by the Edgartown Board of Trade.

Martha’s Vineyard has several notable mid-century modern houses built by recognized architects at a time when the island, and especially "up-island", was transitioning from a mostly agricultural community to a summer home destination.
