The real estate market on Martha’s Vineyard slowed in the first half of 2019. Total sales fell 19% from 270 in the first half of 2018 to 218 in the first half of 2019. Total dollar volume fell 12% over the same period from $329.6mm in 2018 to $288.5mm in 2019. Average price rose 8% from $1.22mm in 2018 to $1.32mm in 2019.

West Tisbury was first settled by English settlers in 1669 as part of the town of Tisbury. The town was officially incorporated in 1892, the last town on Martha's Vineyard to be incorporated. It was, ( and still is ) a farming community with many organic farms both old and new; the annual Agricultural Fair is held at the New Ag Hall on State Road and draws in the crowds and celebrities every August.
